The object of the ministry is, among others, to promote quality, relevance and internationalization of university education.

In order to face the challenges of globalization, Denmark must have top-level universities with strong academic environments that can attract talented students and researchers and provide the foundation for a dynamic development in society.

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation is responsible for the Danish universities. The Ministry of Education oversees short- and medium-length higher education and primary and secondary education.

The universities' primary function is to carry out research and education at the highest academic level and to promote innovation in the Danish industry. The universities offer research-based education at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels.

The Ministry aims to promote quality, relevance and internationalization of university education. The Ministry undertakes this through dialogue and cooperation with the universities, the student community, other research institutions, and industry partners.

The Danish University and Property Agency carries out the Ministry's primary activities within this area.

Danish Agency for International Education (formerly known as CIRIUS) is an authority within the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation responsible for supporting the internationalisation of education and training in Denmark.
